Critical safety information for all OBDAssistant features.

Read Before Use

OBDAssistant is an informational tool. It is NOT a substitute for professional mechanical inspection, certified testing equipment, or qualified repair advice. All test results, AI insights, and diagnostic data are estimates and may contain errors. Your safety and the safety of others depends on professional verification.

General Vehicle Safety

Do not use OBDAssistant while driving or operating a vehicle.
Do not ignore dashboard warning lights based on app readings.
Do not clear diagnostic codes without understanding the underlying cause.
Clearing codes does not fix faults and may erase diagnostic evidence or reset emissions readiness monitors.
Safety-critical faults involving brakes, steering, airbags, overheating, charging system, emissions, or drivability require immediate professional inspection.

AI Diagnostic Assistant

AI guidance is informational only, may be incomplete or wrong, and does not replace a qualified mechanic, WOF inspection, manufacturer diagnostic process, or safety inspection. Vehicle data may be processed by external AI providers. Always verify AI suggestions with a professional.

Brake Test

The brake test uses phone accelerometer/gyroscope sensors. It is:

Not a certified brake tester or calibrated measurement device
Not a WOF, compliance, or roadworthiness result
Affected by phone mounting, calibration, road surface, tyres, ABS, weather, gradient, and sensor quality

Only perform brake tests where safe and legal. Never rely solely on these results to assess brake safety.

Dyno / Performance Tests

Horsepower, torque, 0–100, and quarter-mile results are estimates only. They are:

Not chassis-dyno certified
Affected by GPS/sensor quality, vehicle weight estimates, road gradient, wind, tyres, drivetrain loss assumptions, and phone placement

Obey all road laws. Only perform performance tests in safe, legal environments such as closed courses or designated testing facilities.

Suspension Test

Suspension test results are indicative only. They are not a certified suspension inspection, WOF result, or substitute for professional workshop testing. Accuracy depends on phone mounting, road surface, speed, tyre pressure, suspension type, and sensor quality.

Sentinel / Background Monitoring

Sentinel performs background health checks via Bluetooth/OBD reconnection. It may miss alerts, produce false positives or negatives, or fail to reconnect. Notifications are not emergency warnings or guaranteed monitoring. You remain solely responsible for your vehicle's maintenance.

Reports & Exports

Generated reports are informational summaries only. They are not certified inspection reports, WOF certificates, insurance documents, emissions compliance certificates, valuation reports, or manufacturer diagnostic reports.
